On a lazy sunday, a good deal of wasteful aimless interweb trawling can often reveal gems. Tonight, Jack Steadman, front-man to Bombay Bicycle Club, has blown my mind. Turns out, he’s not only partly responsible for one of the best albums i’ve heard all year – but is an insanely talented producer. Am I the last one to the party?

Currently dwelling within the barracks of Los Angeles Hip Hop collective OFWGKTA, or as they’re normally referred to, Odd Future, Frank Ocean is quite quietly responsible for some pretty great musical output. He’s written for Beyonce, John Legend, and…. Justin Bieber. BUT it’s his mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra that’s cutting it – and he put it out for free in February.

By today’s standards, blogging about a release 8 weeks (!!) after its release is MENTAL. I’m off the pulse. Behind the timez. Shit. But i’ve been listening to it for a couple of weeks, and i think it’s sick. Reeeaallll smoove R&B groove. Get it? It’s free and will most definitely make your day a bit better.

I’ve blogged about him before, and i’ll keep blogging about him afterwards, but last night felt BIG.

I saw Ben Howard play the first show of his UK Old Pine EP tour last night, and he tore it up. The venue was modestly full – but the atmosphere made it feel stacked to the rafters. And before the gig? He only got a cheeky radio interview with Jo Whiley didn’t he? Add this to a handful of plays throughout the week on Zane Lowe’s show and a live session with Dermot O’leary coming up on Saturday and i reckon this looks like the beginning of a pretty huge summer for Ben.
