About

I am a recently graduated journalist, finishing with a 2:1 BA (hons) in Journalism & Media.

I have an insatiable appetite for all things audible; an active interest in international development, the environment and conservation; and a bit of an itch to travel, too.

JOURNALISM

I began writing freelance part-way through my degree course in 2008. Initially contributing live event and album reviews regularly for monthly North East lifestyle magazine The Crack, I soon attained a staff writer role at an American lifestyle magazine called NoTofu, which I held until its demise in 2011. I also held the title of Music News Editor, albeit briefly.

I have contributed to and spent time at the news desk of the Harrogate Advertiser, a local weekly newspaper series operating in North Yorkshire.

In 2010 I contributed to the EDGE of Existence programme run by the Zoological Society of London, writing commissioned blogs and content for their website.

Early this year I spent time with the media office at the international charity WaterAid, where I assisted with drafting press releases, liaising with fundraisers, writing for their website and performing general research tasks.

Now, I write press releases for PR agencies and copy for print media. I have also recently worked with the National Trust, where I assisted in the creation of various promotional material for their Heritage Building Skills Apprenticeship Programme.

RESIDENCIES

Throughout the summer of 2009 I was resident journalist on a conservation expedition to South Africa for a not-for-profit organisation named The Great Primate Handshake. You can find my work here.

PANEL WORK

In 2010 and 2011 I was invited to sit on the judging panel at the Amp Awards, a regional young persons battle of the bands.
